*she gives him a sleepy salute and then sits up to make sure that everything is packed before getting herself ready and taking a full Maddie from Diana so that Diana can get ready*

*Once Diana is ready, Ruby slips out for a moment to take care of the other room and make sure she has everything. As she's walking she breathes through another bout of nausea as she thinks about what could have possibly taken her memories like that. The border was down, she hadn't done anything, she couldn't think of anyone who would specifically wish her ill... It didn't seem like Granny was effected or had heard of others, because Ruby knew that would have been one of the first things she'd heard.*

*She stands outside for a few minutes just breathing in the fresh air to try and calm herself and her stomach before going back inside to see if Dean was out of the shower.*

*Diana is ready and has everything for her and Maddie packed when Ruby comes back in. She noticed her standing around outside for a few minutes before coming in, and sees how pale she is, and gets a little worried*

Eat some of these.

*thrusts some saltine crackers at her, not accepting any arguments*

You look....close to death. You sure you're okay? You seemed really out of it last night.

*sighs and takes the crackers, slipping a few out of the sleeve before packing the rest and plopping down on the bed with her water from before, giving Diana a smile*

I'm fine. It was just hard being away from you guys. I didn't eat or sleep like I should have. *she reaches out and gives Diana's knee a squeeze before nibbling on one of the crackers* Now Dean's stressing himself worrying over me...which worries me more. *smirks* Never ending cycle, right?

Things will be better in Storybrooke, I hope. We could all use a little vacation.

Just...don't say anything about this to Dean, okay? I try not to let it show around him, as much as I can, and knowing you noticed would make him worry more... I'll be fine. I promise.

Why were you away anyway? It didn't seem planned, with how freaked out Dean was, with no breaks, and no talking, and no answering questions.

*smiles as she watches ruby nibble and she squeezes her knee, she knows Ruby is trying to make her feel better, but in all honesty, it really isn't working, it's making her more worried*

Not that I'm not glad to go meet your friends and your Granny, but this all seems sort of sudden.

*bites her bottom lip*

You keep eating and I won't say anything. But I don't like the state of your health being our little secret. Even if he is doing his own worrying.

*reaches into the bag and pulls the crackers back out*

You keep them. Keep up your end of the bargain. I'm not going to go out of my way to worry him more on purpose, but I'm not going to be able to totally ignore it either.

*puts the crackers in her purse, giving Diana a small look of thanks* I'm sorry it worried you, Diana. *gives her a hug*

It wasn't my intention... We just... Things just kind of happened and we both had to react quickly. It was something from my past which is why we're going to Storybrooke. *mostly true* I think we'll find some answers and...well...Dean was joking about meeting my family since I met Sam. *makes a face showing how well that went* Hopefully things will go more smoothly with Granny.

I'll eat, and you can keep tabs on me to make sure I do, okay? *smiles* I'm sure you and Granny will both team up on me once we get there.

*smiles a little, hugging her back*

Well I was pretty sure neither one of you meant to worry me. But not knowing what's going on can be a little nerve wracking, especially when all you've got is Papa Bear glaring at you everytime you say something to him. *teases lightly*

I'm sure it will go more smoothly. And we'll help you with whatever as much as we can. Okay? Don't worry too much.

*smirks*

I like your granny already. And I will be keeping a very close eye on you.

Sorry you had to deal with him when he's like that. He just...he hates it when we're not all together.

I do too.

*points at Diana* Don't you side with her too quickly. She's not gonna like Dean at all if she finds out he's a hunter. So we have to keep that hush hush.

Hell...she's probably not gonna like him just because I do. It's kinda how it goes with us.

I do too. And so does Maddie. She was so agitated the whole time. Though that could have had to do with me and Dean being agitated.

I can do that. Dean being a hunter can stay our little secret.

*laughs*

I'm sure he'll find a way to win her over. Gruffness and all. I mean he takes care of all of us, that's got to count for something.

Poor little monster... I'm sure she just picks up on whatever moods we're all in... *still, it hurts her heart to think that Maddie really did miss her while she was gone*

I hope so... I mean...she makes me crazy sometimes, but...she's family too. I just want her to... I don't know... I guess be happy for me? Proud of me? I know she'll love you and Maddie instantly. You'll know, because she'll be fussing over you needing to eat and how we probably don't take good enough care of either of you. *grins*

Hey, it's okay. she's fine. *wraps her arm around Ruby, pulling her to her* It obviously couldn't be helped. *doesn't want to believe that either she or Dean would cause that level of distress in the family on purpose*

I think we all want our parents to be proud of us, happy about what we're doing. I think that that's why those that have been abandoned or given up or forgotten have such a hard time of it. *it's probably some of the reason she partied and all of that before* She's prouder of you than my parents ever were of me. She at least kept you, would claim you in a crowded room, that sort of thing.

*laughs*

You and Dean take very good care of us. So no matter what she says, don't listen. Got it?

Yeah...just barely. *grins* She was always...hard on me. Even before. I couldn't do anything before, but here in Storybrooke? I...went a little wild, I guess. I think sometimes she'd rather not claim me.

There have been a few times she hasn't wanted to... It makes it irrelevant when everyone knows you and who you're related to though. *laughs*

I know that we try our best. I know that you both deserve more than we can offer though. At least right now. Maybe one of these days we'll stick to one place like Dean wants, but...

I wouldn't be able to do that without him. Don't think you would either.

You know, no matter what, you aren't that same girl. I mean not to say you don't have attitude and you aren't bad ass or whatever. But you're with us. you take care of me and Maddie. You're with Dean. She may just see some of the growing you've done, you know. She might just take you by surprise.

*shakes her head as much as the position will let her*

You guys offer everything that's important for us. You love us. We get food. We get shelter. So what if we travel a lot and sometimes create strange jobs out of nothing. And hunt demons and supernatural creepy things. Or eat a lot of diner food. And pie.

None of that matters. I've lived in much worse conditions with much less.

If we settle down, we settle down, if not, then not. And no, right now, I don't think I would want to put down roots without you and Dean. I'm not ready for that. But one day...

*laughs a little*

Doug says when he's done with school that he's gonna buy a house in Lebanon, Kansas because it's the dead center of the country, so we'll never be that far away from each other. *blushes a little* Just between you and me, I think in four years, I could consider putting some roots there, especially knowing you guys won't ever be very far away.

Just don't mention putting down roots with Doug in Dean's hearing, okay? I like Doug and I'd like to see him live long enough to graduate. *grins*

But no...if and when you do settle down somewhere... If it's not with Dean and myself... You know you'll have to chase us off with how much we'll find random reasons to be around. He'll start making up things to investigate if he can't find enough within a days drive. Just to make sure you're still okay...and that you and Maddie are happy.

He might not say it constantly, but there's not a whole lot he loves more than you two. Nothing's gonna change that. Especially not distance or settling down with a nice boy. *teasing*

Who's doing what with a nice boy now? *looks suspiciously between the two of them and then sighs at Maddie* Madison, I told you to keep tabs on these two. You're slackin, girl!

*he raises an eyebrow at Ruby and her handful of crackers and pale face but doesn't say anything else, just goes to finish packing his own stuff. He folds up Maddie's playpen and hauls it over his shoulder with his bag out to the car*

You two gonna give me a hand or just sit there gossiping all day?

*puts away the crackers like she jad been doing that anyway* I was saying that nice boys can be over-rated. Grumpy hunters are where it's at.

We packed up, so I was thinking gossip. *smiles at him, getting up to help even as she teases*

I mean...you're all cute with the fetching and carrying. And I like to watch. *winks and picks up her bag and Maddie's diaper bag* But if you really need our help... *kisses his cheek as she moves by him towards the car*

Lies! Diana, if you ever date a hunter, I'll lock you up and I'll shoot him. Stick to nerds. Not that this means I approve!

*grabs the bags from Ruby quickly* I was kidding. Go sit down and eat those crackers, you don't need to be hauling stuff around. *narrows his eyes as Ruby opens her mouth, he's sure to protest* I mean it. I will derail this entire trip to take you to the doctor, don't think I won't.

Fine. This morning only though. And only so no doctors. Unless you want to explain my...other condition.

I'm not an invalid, Dean... I promise. I look worse than I feel. But...

If I still feel bad in a day or so... I'll think about. While we're in Storybrooke. *clearly doesn't like the ideas of doctors or Dr. Whale, but would give in eventually if he forced the issue*

*she goes back in the room and gets a few little things as she does a last minute room check before coming back out again*

If you're still this bad in a day or so, there's no thinking about it. I already dropped the ball big time taking care of you, if you think I'm about to sit in the car and watch you keel over, you're wrong.

*opens the door for her*

*helps situate Maddie in the back before getting in the driver's seat and heading out*

*half an hour later they pass a sign saying Welcome to Storybrooke and he feels Ruby's mood darken*

*he reaches out a hand and lays it on her leg, squeezing gently* You wanna rattle off some directions for me?

*she covers his hand with hers, squeezing gently, but her eyes are trained on the woods out her window.*

Just... straight. Only really one road in and out. Granny will be at the diner at this time of day... If you just stay straight, it'll be to the left once your in town.

*she lucks her lips and finally turns to look at him.*

We'll get the key from her and then go get settled.

*smiles* If it isn't with you and Dean, you guys are welcome any time. I won't chase you off. Ever. I love you guys too. And I would still want you around. to make sure you're both happy and taking care of each other.

I know he does. I'd never doubt that for a second. And I hope that he knows that too. That nothing changes how much I love him. Or that he'll always be the one I call when something gets really bad. You too, of course.
