Explanation via thewonderkitten*:

We have a Claim Post! It can be updated whenever. People can claim as many damn people as they want to. It's largely to have a sense of organization and make sure we don't have fifteen different Stileses running around.

So like let's say. "Phase" (for lack of a better word) starts -- I decide I'd really like to play an elephant, Nicki Minaj, and my left shoe. So I hop right in there the start of the phase and claim 'em.

A few weeks later, I decide I'm really shit at RPing my left shoe. I don't want to play it anymore. I would, however, really like to play Dani's bra collection and the whole cast of Urinetown. So I go back to that claim post, remove my left shoe from my claim, and add Dani's bra collection and the whole cast of Urinetown. I can do this at any time throughout the phase because goodness knows we get sick of characters or want to break out new characters every five seconds or so.
At the end of like... a month or so, we scrub that motherfucker clean and everyone has to go in and reclaim characters. So if I was playing Nicki Minaj last phase, you are totally welcome to claim her for this phase and we can cycle through characters that way.

Guidelines for each new phase: We're leaving it up to you to decide, but please try to leave your characters that you believe are popular (i.e. the ones that are played most often in mafia or the ones most quickly snatched up) to be claimed by someone else. Maybe wait a day and if they aren't claimed, you can claim them again. Also, as soon as I mark you on the spreadsheet, I will link you to a new bios post (to be made shortly), so please try to fill that out with all of your characters so people can refer to it to get a feel of your characters.

However, this doesn't mean everyone has to wipe their slate clean, they can if they want. It's just a good way of knocking out inactive characters and letting people have a shot at playing previously claimed characters.

Suggestions for you: These are just suggestions and not requirements. Just some things that will help everyone involved. When you are claiming, or reclaiming, please try to include full name/full fandom. I, unfortunately, am not Google personified and I'm not sure whether X-Men and XMFC are the same fandom. Also, if there are different adaptations, please try to clarify which one you are using. For example, instead of saying Sherlock, say Sherlock (BBC) or Sherlock (2009 film). Also, for reclaiming, please try to just reclaim your most active ones at the beginning of the phase. If you have some that you don't play very much, maybe it'll be good to let someone else have a try.

Claiming Rules: Within the first 48 hours, each player will only be allowed to claim fewer than ten characters.

I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY CLAIMS WITH MORE THAN 10 CHARACTERS. I WILL REPLY TO YOU ASKING YOU TO TRIM THEM DOWN.

YOU MAY NOW CLAIM MORE THAN 10 CHARACTERS

PLEASE READ THIS POST REGARDING THE NEW RULE AS TO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T PLAY CHARACTERS

PM'S WITH BANNED CHARACTERS HAVE BEEN SENT TO PLAYERS. THERE IS ALSO A LIST BELOW WITH ALL THE BANNED CHARACTERS IN CASE ONE OF YOU DESIRE TO CLAIM THEM. Announcement: We have used the same bio post for a couple of phases, so I will be creating a new one for this phase. This is how it will continue. Every two phases, a new bio post will be created. Now, I know that you guys don't put bios for all of your characters, and I am the same. It is not required. But perhaps, from now on, if you do put bios, put them for the characters that you have that are more headcanon than canon. Also, the lesser known characters might need bios too. :)
