boston week: part one!

Welcome to Boston, Massachusetts! We hope you've found your accommodations to your liking. It's Christmas week, so the streets are bustling along nicely, the trees are up, and decorations line Faneuil Hall. No snow just yet, but we hope you like the 30°F weather! (Might want to bundle up.)

Even around this time of year, there's much to be done in the city -- take a gander at some of the potential attractions on your brochure and get out there to go enjoy the sights!

((Host note: I'm starting the week off easy with a general RP, but come Wednesday, expect a new post with -- gasp -- tasks! Unfortunately, I just won't be a stable enough presence to maintain what I have planned until then. So for now, get settled in and have fun!

Feel free to go all around the city -- I've outlined/summarized some key areas to hit up in the list up there. If you're stumped on somewhere to go, hit up the mod thread and I'll make sure to point you in the right direction!))

I'm here with my family. But there's only so much of my parents drinking, kissing and singing Christmas songs I can handle. I decided to go get some hot chocolate. What are you doing here...without a coat?

Yeah, that sounds real tough. *his tone comes out bitter and cold, as she complains about having a perfect, happy family, on christmas*

*it adds speed and anger, a heavier stomp, back into his step*

We're seeing family for Christmas.

*shrugs like having a coat doesn't matter, like he's not even cold*

Yeah, mom's family is from here. Or some of them anyway. We come every year. And it's always kind of a train wreck.

*he shakes his head, not sure why he's sharing any of this with her*

Why would you just come here?

*his tone a little aggressive, it's said like a put down, it sounds stupid to him, to choose to go somewhere random for a holiday. All he's ever really wanted is a Christmas in Lima, where maybe his mom will be happy the whole time, and there will be less fighting*

I'm not really worried about it. *he bites out when she asks if he's cold. The last thing he needs is hot chocolate and a heart to heart with some girl he'll have to see like all the time*

I dunno. This is just where my parents wanted to come this year. I just have to go along with them sometimes when they want to go places.

*pouts a little, then brightens*

It just seems silly, don't you think? To go somewhere else for the holiday if you don't have to?

*momentarily sees her pout, but before he can even feel bad about it, she's smiling again, and he's not caring about it at all*

The cold mostly. *though he wasn't really sure he wanted hot chocolate, though something hot to drink would be nice, he'd be freezing if he weren't moving so fast*

*he tries to sound like a decent human being as he says awkwardly*

So, hot chocolate, where would you recommend?

yeah, I know what that's like. I hate coming here every year for Christmas.

So you come here every year? But you don't wanna? Why don't you just tell your mom? Maybe she doesn't really like coming here either. I don't know why anyone would, it's so freaking cold out.
