*looks around them as she comes back for more marshmallows* How is this like the Hunger Games?

*sits back down beside him and smiles tenatively* And are you really giving me permission to smack you? Who knows if I will be able to tell a flashback from not a flashback?

Do you...? *stops herself from saying that they could hike out if he wanted to*

Do you...think you can eat more...marshmallows than me? *lame, but she had to cover somehow. She wouldn't want someone thinking she couldn't handle something, so she doesn't want to pull that card with Finnick*

Just...being in the middle of nowhere. Mostly alone. Not a lot to do. *grins* I'll give you that you're better company than they ever were though.

I'm betting you hit like a girl anyway so *shoves a marshmallow in his mouth and smiles* And I'd bet my life on that one, Gimpy.

*he stands up, tossing the marshmallow bag at her head and shakes out the sleeping bag next to the fire, a safe distance away* I'll let your wounded ego have the side next to the heat.

*smiles and catches the bag* Well, I am a girl, so that's a pretty safe bet.

*She gets up and brushes off her jeans* Such a gentleman... My wounded ego and I are grateful.

*she takes off her leather jacket to use it as a pillow, rolling it up and setting it down at the top of the sleeping back, tucking her hands in her pockets to keep from wrapping them around herself. it's not snow cold, but definitely chilly at night.*

*he unzips the sleeping bag and slides to the back of it, laying on his side and propping an arm under his head as a pillow*

*he holds it open* Come on, Charlie, before you freeze to death.

*she sits on the edge, pulling her boots off and then slips her legs between the edges. she turns to face him and gently nudges the jacket closer* It's big enough for both of us. If you want.

*grins* My arm always ends up going numb when I try that.

*she scoots down in the bag and then lays down and looks up at the stars*

*he shivers a little when Charlie's warmth hits him and starts to warm up the sleeping bag*

*moves his head closer to hers on the jacket*

*he looks up at the stars, following her gaze, and then back to her* Sure is pretty out here.

*gives a small shrug* The least I could do since you came up with the idea... Plus, I wouldn't want your arm going all numb later.

*she nods a little in agreement and then glances at him, but can't remember what she was going to say when she meets his gaze. she shivers and it has nothing to do with the chill in the air* It...is...

*he doesn't know why he's so attached to this stupid girl, this girl that annoys the hell out of him half the time...but makes him laugh and have adventures and...*

*but he is and he can't pretend that it's...the way it was with the parade of lovers the Capitol forced on him... He hasn't ever had to pretend with her*

*that's almost worse*

*he reaches out and runs one finger down her cheek, his eyes looking her over closely although not sure what for*

You're gonna drive me crazy before this is over, you know that, Gimpy?

*she searches his eyes, his face, not exactly sure what's happening or what to think of the way it feels like she swallowed a whole bunch of butterflies. It was a little like this when he was finishing up stitching her leg, or when she finally saw him again after he was taken*

Sorry? *her voice is soft, but it kinda feels like she can't breathe*

Are you, Charlotte? Sorry? I haven't figure out if I am or not yet.

*he's gotten the distinct feeling over the time they've known each other that she's never done...anything. That this is all new to her in the same way it sort of is for him too*

*smiles* Yeah, you might be.

I could...try not to... *she knows it would be better for warmth if they were both facing the same direction, but she can't make herself turn away* I know I drive Uncle Miles crazy too sometimes...

Well sure. Should I make you a check list?

Stop being so pretty.

Stop being funny.

Stop annoying me to the point of absolute insanity and then making me want to spend all my time with you anyway.

Stop looking so happy every time I do something that even I know is completely unimpressive, like giving you that postcard.

There's a handful of other things but that'd be a good start.
