Week 2 RP Prep

I have two things I needed to ask about for Kivrin's Historically Inaccurate Totally Awesome Renaissance Faire, which will be running after the upcoming Lost Island Plane Crash.

First... a question for all:

I was bouncing ideas off of xsnarkasaurus about what will be available for characters to buy in Merchants Row. She suggested that characters could perhaps volunteer to have booths there, just as a normal Ren Faire would have. This is going to run a bit like Carnival Week in that your characters will be able to win tokens in games and contests, and then use them to buy certain things. There will be a regular booth, run by Kivrin, in which your characters can buy jewelry, stuffed animals, etc... same as at the Carnival, but I wanted to find out if any of your characters are interested in offering up their own items for sale.

This can be anything: graphics, drabbles, haiku, RP stuff... For example, Blaine will be running a booth where he will charge 2 tokens and your character can receive the nicest compliment he can come up with. I have not yet decided what will happen with the tokens spent at each booth... Will your boothkeeper have those tokens added to their total? I wanted your opinions on that.

Your character can set the prices (up to 10 tokens for items offered). And if you choose to do something like graphics, you will not be expected to have all graphics completed by the end of the week.

Only one character per person can have a booth. (Except for me. But I'm not in the running to win Top Point Earner. :P)

Second... a request:

The week will culminate in the crowning of (gender non-specific) Ren Faire King and Queen, along with Prince and Princess. Prince and Princess will be voted on by your characters from all of the single characters in attendance. All of this will be sorted out during the week itself.

King and Queen is a category reserved for couples. If you would like any of your couples submitted to this category, I need to you list the couples below. When the week starts, there will be a screened thread for voting and only couples nominated here will be eligible.

A few things...

- I am accepting OT3s for this.
- If a person is nominated as part of a couple, they are not eligible for Prince and Princess.
- Characters I play are eligible for this, but I will not be voting and all votes will be unscreened at the end.

I also think that Neal would like to run a betting booth, with the traditional "shell game". Pay off x2 or x3, depending on your dictates, if they guess the right shell that the pea is under.

oh! i totally meant to say, I really like the idea of booth keepers getting the tokens people pay for whatever thing is being sold. A shopkeeper at a renfair would get the money, so we should, too.

I like the idea too, though if people get the money for the shops they run, I'm going to have to limit the number of contests they can enter. Because not everyone can run a booth and I want everyone to have a fair shot at being the points winner for the week.

By which I mean... I won't limit the daily contests, because those are for big prizes. But the faire activities... the games and stuff that are up all the time.

I like the idea of booths. However I wouldn't have the time to have one that would produce any real goods, ie graphics or fic or something.

As I read other people's stuff. I agree that the booth owners should be able to keep the money that they make. But that perhaps somehow cap the contests they can enter or something, like Steph was saying, only allowed to use 30 of their earned coins a day.

Ummm...if you need other booths...all I got is Brooke could sell clothes, or Gossip Girl could sell anonymity, like she won't talk about you for the day for x amount of coins. So let me know if you want either or both.

And I'm gonna nominate Dean Winchester and Ruby (do we even know for King and Queen) and talk to the folks that I'm in couples with about if they wanna be nominated or not, haha (Dean and Ruby get no choice).

Maybe a PI-cons booth where Ruby sells pie (and people can order icons for their characters?)

Like you come in and order a slice of whatever pie or a whole pie, and then in ((...)) link me a picture or a gallery or something for your character.

I don't know. I like puns.

And I can't just...run a graphic shop with Ruby...and pretty sure they would have some sort of money making scheme for the family and Ruby can't have another glorified kissing booth. XD

Or maybe someone else for some other reason, but what I'll be doing is icons of people's characters for like...what? 2-3 tokens? 5 tokens? Whatever seems comparable.
