*the second that they had allowed her to make a phone call, she had called Elijah, hoping against hope that he was home, okay, with the younger kids at least...and he said it had just been him and Carl and Liam all week*

*after which she told him where she was and then started tracking down all the others*

*he said he'd leave Carl and Liam with Kev and V*

*when she saw him coming down the hall, she couldn't wait, she ran down it and jumped into his arms, kissing him immediately before burying her face in his neck*

I missed you so much.

*she held him as close as she could and she felt tears in her eyes as she felt his calming presence for the first time in a week*

*hurries down the hall as he sees her, eyes red from lack of sleep and possibly a little bit of crying, though he won't admit to it easily*

*gathers her up in his arms, holding her off the ground as tightly as he can manage without hurting her*

*it was impossible to make herself pull away, so she didn't, in this moment, she just wanted to know that she was home, that she was safe, no more ghosts, that he was here, that he was hers, so even though he asked, she just quietly held on, possibly even tighter, trying to stop herself from blurting out something crazy that she would possibly regret tomorrow*

*she nodded*

Debbie and Ian and Lip all need gathering. They all had experiences. Horrible experiences. These kids are gonna be so fucked up.

*she pulls back in and really takes in his appearance*

You look like shit. *she smirks a little, but if he looked like this it was because he'd been worried and not just about her, about all of them, and he'd stayed with Carl and Liam and...she felt more tears in her eyes as she pulled him closer* I love you. *she said again quietly.

*is slightly surprised when she says it, and it takes him a moment to register it enough to say it back* I love you too.

*kisses her slowly and softly in an effort to be comforting and also because he can't believe that it has been so long since they last kissed*

I know... I look tragic. No idea what my hair is doing.

*she snuggles closer to him when he says that he loves her too*

*she returns the kiss, keeping it slow and gentle, just absorbing all the comfort, but before long she remembers how long it has been since they last kissed, and it becomes more than that, for just a moment before they pull apart*

*she laughs a little, knowing she probably looked like a mess right now*

*she runs her fingers through his hair*

*keeps trying to joke like normal, but is reminded each time of the gravity of the situation... how stressful everything has been these last few weeks, and holds on to her still, unwilling to let go or even to set her down*
