*shakes his head as he sits carefully, leg extended in front of him* Not 2013, that's for sure. *runs his hand through his hair* 1934.

((He wears this uncomfortable-looking leg brace (http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lf8x7pQAQP1qf0xq6o1_500.jpg) all the time, and his limp is pretty bad. He can't bend that leg at all when the brace is on. And it's hard to find a picture of online, which is why you can only see the top part of it that covers his thigh and laces up there, but it extends down to his foot.))

I probably should. Carnivale's the only place that would have me after... *gestures toward his leg* There are people who count on me.

I was a baseball player. Professional pitcher. I refused to lose a game on purpose for the mob, so three of 'em held me down while their boss busted my knee. Couldn't play after that.

That's such a long story. Sofie and I... we've known each other a long time. And we were always dancing around each other, like maybe something was there, but I could never tell for sure. One minute, she's kissing me or asking me to walk her to her trailer, and the next she's ignoring me completely. After Dora Mae died... Dora Mae was a girl who worked for the carnival. Everybody loved her, and I found her hanging from a tree. After she was murdered, Stumpy... that's her dad... came to me and asked me to... *ducks his head* ...to sleep with Rita Sue. That's his wife, Dora Mae's mother. Because he couldn't and she needed it and...

I just shouldn't have. Sofie found out, and even though we weren't really ever together, it hurt her. She got her revenge, and that was hurtful too... *shakes his head* And after the fire, when I saved Sofie but couldn't save her mother...

*trails off... this is the most he's said at once to anyone in a very long time*
