UP NEXT WEEK: HORROR MOVIE WEEK!

Who's going? What're they doing? Who're they meeting and why are they there? Meet up and plot things out here!

***

Details from your host, [livejournal.com profile] ondragonflywing:

It's horror movie week! There are lots of creepy things coming at you. Your characters will wake up in a random, as of yet undisclosed location. (It'll be sent to you in PM, as well as one random object your character will have on them, in addition to what they might usually carry.)

This means I need to know who you want to bring, so I can randomize your location. I hope we all get to have our characters make new friend....or enemies.

There are no other rules or planning other than where you wake up, so play it all however you want. However bored host is bored and on spring break....and bored lol, so I may throw random evil things at you for you to defeat.

I wish you the best of luck in surviving the week. ;)

A question that doesn't just pertain to this week but to all weeks... how widespread are the effects from these weeks? Because before the weeks were isolated. So maybe your characters went to Venice, or crack mansion, or were plane crashed on an island, bhut that was an individual thing. Now it .seems like a more global thing. I didn't want my characters to do the alien invasion week, but then last week's post seemed to imply that the invasion thing was a world event and everyone should have heard and have been impacted by it even if they weren't there. And again this week people are taking about it. My character(s) would have no knowledge of the alien invasion. It didn't happen th her/them. And I can't help but feel like they wouldn't fit in for this or future weeks because of it. Am I reading to much into it? Or should I just give up on following this comm entirely?

For me, the characters that I did put through it have been affected by it. But as for some of my characters, like Ian that I just picked up, I'm playing him as no knowledge of the alien invasion. I have no idea how he would have reacted in that situation and I didn't follow Mollie's plot, so I don't know how it affected his family either.

I think it only makes a difference on how much it affected people and how they want it to affect their storyline? Some of my characters, it changed their lives. Others are just gonna be meh about it and not really talk about it anymore.

If that helps at all?

I dunno. When I saw it, I thought it was going to be an AU, as it encompassed the whole world. And then the post last week referenced it. I thought maybe they could be in the same AU, as superpowers would also be a big deal. But then it's still being referenced. I think it's fine for a new character, as the new character could be from a different universe, but it feels kinda weird to me to play a character that has met some of these people before, and thus is part of the same universe but who has no knowledge of a supposed world-wide event.

I'm aware I could play in a "free" post, but I don't want to. If I wanted to play non-CFB storylines, i'd play in past threads and/or personal journals. I dunno.

I think it depends on the player and how their characters react to it. By now, all my characters have moved past it pretty much and they won't reference it. I think the only reason it's being talked about this week is because we've had three traumatic experiences in a row, including horror movies. Like, after a while, I just get tired of having to RP out angst. Give everyone fluffy bunnies :P

And technically, my new character has met some of these characters since some of his family are played by Mollie. I haven't figured out how that's going to go because I haven't had a chance to Mollie yet.

Just say Bela was in Antarctica and it was too cold for aliens there? :P

I'm going AU with Seb on his Ian storyline. Unless you want to keep them having sex on the back of Seb's car on Valentine day? =P

LOL yeah, my plan was to play it as Ian has never met Seb before. But he's kinda required to know his family. :P

As far as I know about the family: Fiona and Elijah were getting serious. And Lip was getting to know Phoebe. But most I followed was from alien week and I'm not updated.

Debbie is still just Debbie and nothing happened with her yet.

I think it always been a personal choice if your character take that week as your rp canon or not. I don't think there's anything wrong in having characters not even aware of what went down any week before.

Not a mod, just a opinion of someone who's missing lots of weeks all the time anyway.

I'm aware of that, but before it was always personal weeks that wouldn't affect others if the person chose to keep the week part of their RP canon. Like it wouldn't affect my characters if someone had or had not visited Boston, San fransisco, the ski lodge, etc. In this case, though, it was a supposed world wide event. And it seems like my characters either have to start over, so they are not part of the world where such an event happened, or I can't play. (I had thought the alien thing would be treated like an AU thing, but it doesn't seem like it is.)

I'm just trying to figure out my options.

To explain my own comment on the thread ref Alien invasion: I AM treating it as AU. Just meant to say something along the lines of "I already put them though that, why can't I give my boys a break?" Kind of sentiment.

I suggest that someone runs a week where all of the characters get a fluffy kitten and then whole week is just them playing with their kittens.

I don't know... I still want to turn a bunch of characters into cute little animals for the week and they would be returning to themselves little by little as the week goes on... =P

But it's different for you because you never play the CFB weeks. Instead you continue in your own storyline. If I wanted to do that, I have past threads and private posts for that. I'm in CFB because I like the idea of my characters in these settings, meeting/interecting with these people. But it's hard to do that when there is a mass world-wide event that my character wasn't part of, as it means my character must be from an AU world. When I was rather hoping the world-wide event could have been the AU thing, as it is difficult to incorporate into personal canons. If that makes sense?

That is what I had thought people would do, treat it like an AU, but then I read last post and this planning post and it seemed like it wasn't happening that way. And I don't know how to have my characters deal with it. Maybe I'll play it by ear. But this week sounded interesting. }kll think about it, I guess. Thanks for the response. :)

I've been playing my characters as if it did happen to them, mostly because I didn't know that there was an expectation to play it one way or another, and my head is too fucked lately to be able to play a week of something traumatic and then pretend like it didn't happen. Which is why I'm pretty much going to skip this week. Normally I can sort through it and say "This thing happened and this thing didn't" but I'm really struggling with that right now. But it only comes up with the people those characters already know. When meeting new characters, mine aren't going to be saying, "Hey... remember that alien thing?" If that helps.
