A Week in Rural Scotland

Thank you for joining us here in picturesque Glen Macalie, on the shore of Loch Leven in the Grampian Mountains of Scotland. We welcome you to the campus of the Glen Macalie School for Girls and hope that you will enjoy your stay.


This week will largely be unstructured; you are welcome to investigate the castle (which dates back to 1237 CE) and the nearby village of Glen Macalie. Some resources which will be available to you include:

In the castle:
Comprehensive Library
Modern Kitchens
State of the art Training/Exercise Room
Extensively landscaped grounds and gardens
Horseback Riding
Fishing
Hiking

In the village:
Shopping
Pubs and restaurants
Museum
Historical buildings
Golf

We ask only that you take care to observe the following rules:

1) Please do not leave campus near or after dark.
2) Venturing too far outside after dark, even on campus, is not guaranteed to be safe. You do so at your own risk.
3) There will be occasional evening events. Participation in these events should be considered of minor risk; however, anyone taking part should endeavor to follow all directions to ensure his or her safety.

*he finds sliced ham, turkey and cheddar cheese, taking it all out and setting it down on the counter next to her*

I think I want turkey and ham sandwich. Hmm...now to find the bread...

*turns back and looks at the boxes in the cupboard, smiling and nodding*

It does! Wow, a whole cupboard of juice just for you.

*goes to the pantry and finds a loaf of white, pre-sliced bread and he wrinkles his nose*

They only have store bought bread, it looks like. This will have to do, I suppose.

*turns on the burner and looks under the stove for a small pan*

*finds a pan and sets it on the burner, going back to the fridge to get some butter*

Yeah, but it's not as good as the home-made stuff. People just don't know how good home-made bread is.

*brings everything over next to the stove, looking through some drawers to find the utensils*

I wonder if the princess would be so kind as to get some tomatoes and lettuce out, so she can slice them to her liking.

*begins to butter some bread as he smiles at her*

My princess wanted a toasted sandwich. This is just an easy way to so it.

*gets out the cheese and meat, placing the sandwich in the pan*

*takes the pan off the burner as he rushes over her*

You alright? Did you cut yourself? Let me see.

*holds her finger gently, shaking his head*

Not fine. Stay here.

*gets a paper towel, folding it up, coming back and wrapping it around her finger*

Luckily, you didn't cut your finger off. But I think you'll need a band-aid.

*looks over at the tomatoes, then back at her*

Yeah, I'm sure there is. If not, we can cut another one.

Do we have band-aids upstairs? I can find some down here if I need to, but I don't know where they would be...

S'okay. Keep the paper towel on it. We can get a band-aid upstairs. The sandwiches are almost done, okay?

*puts the pan back on the burner, flipping the sandwich over*

*chuckles, getting a plate from the cabinet*

Nah...just a boy doing what he likes to do. And it just so happens the woman I love appreciates my talents greatly.

*puts the sandwich on the plate, tossing the bloody tomato in the trash, putting the clean slices on her sandwich*

Mayonaise? Mustard? Lettuce?

*gets mayonnaise and mustard out of the fridge, putting some mustard on her sandwich, handing her the plate*

*smiles as he turns back to the counter, buttering two more pieces of bread, sticking them in the pan with the turkey, ham and cheese*
