Thank you for joining us here in picturesque Glen Macalie, on the shore of Loch Leven in the Grampian Mountains of Scotland. We welcome you to the campus of the Glen Macalie School for Girls and hope that you will enjoy your stay.

This week will largely be unstructured; you are welcome to investigate the castle (which dates back to 1237 CE) and the nearby village of Glen Macalie. Some resources which will be available to you include:

In the castle:
Comprehensive Library
Modern Kitchens
State of the art Training/Exercise Room
Extensively landscaped grounds and gardens
Horseback Riding
Fishing
Hiking

In the village:
Shopping
Pubs and restaurants
Museum
Historical buildings
Golf

We ask only that you take care to observe the following rules:

1) Please do not leave campus near or after dark.
2) Venturing too far outside after dark, even on campus, is not guaranteed to be safe. You do so at your own risk.
3) There will be occasional evening events. Participation in these events should be considered of minor risk; however, anyone taking part should endeavor to follow all directions to ensure his or her safety.

If you have any questions, please feel free to see Mr. Giles or Ms. Summers.

Most of the time, I enjoy it, yes.

My partner is in law enforcement as well - he works for Scotland Yard.

Boyfriend partner. And the best term to describe him is silver fox.

A few months only. Though I wouldn't be opposed to making it more permanent.

It was very nice. Especially since I'd been about to give up on ever finding anyone.

What about you? Do you have a special someone?

*shrugs* I didn't have time to date while I was establishing my career, and then people seemed drawn to me for all the wrong reasons. I actually met Gregory through my younger brother.

It's good to be close to family. Mine never was close, and we've all suffered for it in different ways.

My condolences. My father passed some time ago, but he wasn't the most pleasant of men.

It was a long time ago.

Thanks, but no. At my age, I can't just drink all night anymore.

I don't mind being asked. I'm 43.

It's been twenty years, and as much as I hate to admit it, sometimes it still feels like it was yesterday.

That's awful.

My father had a heart attack, so also sudden, but significantly less traumatizing. Unless you count my brother's behavior at the funeral.

Sherlock told everyone there how horrible our father was and that it was a good thing he was dead.

My brother's always been a bit, well, eccentric and there were times our father preferred to act as though I was an only child. Which was horrible, but at 16 Sherlock should have been able to hold his tongue for a few hours. At least in front of Mummy.

It was difficult, yes. And a period I prefer not to dwell on.

Gregory is wonderful.

He's a Detective Inspector with Scotland Yard, and definitely one of their best.

When my brother had a drug problem, he was able to get through to him and give him a reason to get clean. I'd been trying and failing to do the same for years.
