A Week in Rural Scotland

Thank you for joining us here in picturesque Glen Macalie, on the shore of Loch Leven in the Grampian Mountains of Scotland. We welcome you to the campus of the Glen Macalie School for Girls and hope that you will enjoy your stay.


This week will largely be unstructured; you are welcome to investigate the castle (which dates back to 1237 CE) and the nearby village of Glen Macalie. Some resources which will be available to you include:

In the castle:
Comprehensive Library
Modern Kitchens
State of the art Training/Exercise Room
Extensively landscaped grounds and gardens
Horseback Riding
Fishing
Hiking

In the village:
Shopping
Pubs and restaurants
Museum
Historical buildings
Golf

We ask only that you take care to observe the following rules:

1) Please do not leave campus near or after dark.
2) Venturing too far outside after dark, even on campus, is not guaranteed to be safe. You do so at your own risk.
3) There will be occasional evening events. Participation in these events should be considered of minor risk; however, anyone taking part should endeavor to follow all directions to ensure his or her safety.

"No, Wedge is my name... I'm from a fair way away from here, so I am not surprised my name might sound strange. Never really took the time to get a callsign."

"Several actually... get high enough rank and the lines start to blur. Air Force would be the closest to my passion... but I've had to form army special units as well."

*he walks two more steps*

"From Scratch."

"Without a hell of a lot of support either."

*He chuckles dryly, clearly remembering something*

"Can't say I've met the man, then again, most of what I do is classified Top Secret... and I do work in a very specialized area as well. Lets just say, it's nice to get out doors."

"So... tell me about this jack O'Neill... at least what you're cleared to talk about..."

He's a Lieutenant General now. Spent some time in special forces, so there's not much I can say, even if I knew. He's a good man, though he likes to test authority, especially in the infirmary. I'm not sure which of us was more annoyed by his time in there.

"Then I would say hat if I did meet him, he and I would have much to ... or rather not to talk about. One does not get to that rank on the basis of empty folders and celebratory drinks. And the respect you have for him..."

*his voice trails off and he s thoughtful*

"He must be an incredible man indeed. That is pretty high loyalty I hear. And as for bad tempered patients... I have had more than a few doctors threaten to restrain me during... treatment..."

*the grin returns*

"You show me a fighter pilot that is not itching to get back behind the controls of his craft when all hell is breaking loose, even if they are half burned... and I'll show you a man who is either unconscious or has accepted he cannot fly anymore."

*the grin remains*

"And when a top ranked Admiral of the battle fleet you are attached to tells you to rest up, you wait until his back is turned before giving him the fingers before trying to sneak out and get back into the thick of things."

"Been staying long... or rather, are you to be here for a while? I always like to get the lay of the land... and preferably not from a brochure."

*There is an easy going calm and pleasant quality about the man as he walks and talks.*
